Technology
Blogger - Blogger became an essential part of our work as it was what we used to present all our research and planning work.
Although we were new to blogger it didn't take longer to figure out how to use it. We learnt how to embed videos and upload images to blogger, this was sometimes challenging as the image would not always be placed where we wanted it. We overcame this by typing the text first and then putting then inserting the images after so it would not look messy.
Cameras - As we have been studying media for 3 years, we are used to using the cameras and tripods. However,it was important we remembered how to brought more than one camera with us when filming. This was essential as it helped us get different shot, also, if one was to run out we still had the other.
We also had to remember to import our work from the camera to the mac computer straight away so that we didnt loose any work if other students were to use the camera.
Imovie- Imovie was a very essential part to our music video as it was needed to put everything in order, make any lighting changes, change it to black and white and lip sync it.
Photoshop- Mary and I found Photoshop the most challenging part. We had to use it when creating our digipak. We used it to polish and perfect our pictures, and to add any text needed.

Health and safety risk assessment
By Mary Thompson
This is a risk assessment that we have conducted before we begin to film our media music video.
Making a risk assessment helps us identify the risks and dangers of our filming task and how to deal with them if they do happen.

Magazine advertisement research
Rihanna magazine advertisement
By Leah Gathergood
By Leah Gathergood
We looked at Rihanna's album advertisement. The advertisement focus's on the colour red, which matches Rihanna's hair colour and also connotes sex appeal, which is part of her star motif. The advertisement also includes her name, album name and cover of the album and the date of when it comes out. The background also shows a shot from a video of one of the songs on her album.
Katy Perry advertisement
When looking at Katy Perry's advertisement we noticed there was many similarities to Rihanna's. For example, it also has a background of Katy Perry and a small picture of the album cover on top. This is something we will consider when creating out advertisement.
Also, It is written clearly when the album is out, which is important to the reader.
Katy Perry has used a bright colour theme that matches her quirky persona. There is also a mention of the most popular song on the album, which is a good idea as it may make it more appealing to buy.

Digipak Research
A digipak is a type of packaging for a CD. It is usually used for a special purpose, such as a limited addition.
Rihanna's Digipak
The first digipak we looked at was Rihanna's 'talk that talk' album.
The images of Rihanna suit her star motif of being rebellious. There are images shown of her blowing smoke out of her mouth and also one of her smoking. One of the images denote her with her legs open, which is connoting sexuality.
This digipak is also 4 panels which is conventional of a pop music album.
The digipak also has a warning that there is explicit content, therefore adults will be aware of this if they have young children who want the album.
The title of the album and name of artist are also included on the front picture.
Beyoncé's digipak
On google we found an analysed Beyoncé digipak. As shown the front cover denotes a mid shot of the artist and her name and album name written in white font.
This digipak also conventionally has 4 panels. One of the pictures show a full body shot of Beyoncé, will other smaller pictures next to it. There are also pictures in the background behind where the CD's are placed.
Our digipak research shows that conventionally to use 4 panels therefore we will take this into consideration when creating ours.
Also, it is shown that there should be a close up of the artist as well as a full body shot.

Shot list
Shot List
This was a plan of our shot list, however we made many changes when filming. For example, we were unable to film in a house, so we had to film in the oracy space in our school. This meant there were many changes of location and slightly of the narrative.

Storyboard/Planning
Before creating our story board, me and Mary printed out the lyrics to the song 'diva'
We then wrote down a rough plan of what we wanted to happen in each part of the video.
Writing next to the lyrics helped us when creating our storyboard and filming. It also ensured that what was happening in the music video matched the song lyrics.

Final Treatment
Narrative
By Mary Thompson
The narrative for our music video would be based around a woman who will have the characteristics of a 'diva' The narrative is going to be set at a house party in which everyone will admire the 'diva' There is going to be another character who is less confident and envious of the 'diva' character. She isn't confident as she has been put down by a group of girls who are also at the party. The girls watch and laugh at her making her feel even more insecure. She watches how confident the diva is and the diva eventually starts speaking to her. The girl opens up to the diva and explains how these other girls are making her feel. The diva takes her upstairs and gives her a make over to make her look better. The girl then feels more confident and they both go back to the centre of the party together and start doing a dance routine. The girls who were originally bullying her are jealous and storm out of the party.
Characterisation
Our survey and focus group described a divas characteristics as strong, confident, attractive and feisty. Therefore we will make sure to incorporate these characteristics into our 'diva' actress.
Resources
Actors- 2 main characters and 15-20 people to make it look like a party.
Setting- A house which has space for a party, Street for 'diva' to walk down before she arrives at the party.
Technical resources- iMovie, video camera
Props- Cups, non-alcoholic drink bottles, party like outfits, disco lights
Justification
We have chosen this particular narrative as the character Beyonce has created her persona to be diva-like. The lyrics are also about a diva therefore it is relevant.
A big part of Beyonce's style motif is dance routines therefore we are going to incorporate dance routines into the narrative. We will make a dance routine for when the 'diva' and less confident girl become friends and the diva gives her more confidence.
Costume List
Costume Ideas
by Leah Gathergood
When asking our focus group what they would least like to see in our music video, they said a bad costume. This was because part of Beyoncé's star motif is to constantly have a nice outfit on and hair and make up done, this meant if our main character was to look casual or wear a bad outfit, it would be wouldn't be conventional. Therefore, we chose dresses for our main character that were sexy yet classy.
We also decided our main character should wear a jacket, this was so we could show someone else removing her jacket for her, emphasising her 'diva' personality.
Also, when we were researching pop music videos and looking at their costumes, we noticed, particularly with Beyoncé, that female singers majority of the time wear high heeled shoes in their music videos, as well as when performing. Therefore, we made sure our main character was wearing high heeled shoes throughout the video.
Overall we chose our costume for our main character to fit the typical conventions of pop music, for example having hair and make up done, but also fit to the star motif of Beyoncé, which is something classy, but something that would also stand out.
When choosing costumes for the people who were in the party scene, we wanted them to look smart but not so they out shine our main character. We asked them to wear jeans and a nice top or blouse. This was so they looked like they were dressed for a party.
Having a costume list and ideas helps us to be more organised when filming as we know what we now need to get or bring in from home.
